Dixie Mafia

A hard-boiled documentary that charts the rise and fall of the little known but notoriously dangerously mafia that inhabited the Gulf Coast from the 1920’s through the 1980’s.  A mix of interviews, embeds, recreations, and archival footage bring this unique Southern Gothic chapter to life.  In their long reign, the Dixie Mafia controlled moonshine, casinos, drugs, and prostitution rings, as well as local judges and sheriffs.  They were responsible for some of the most infamous murders in the area and managed to turn most of Biloxi into their criminal capital.  The mafia was taken down in the late 1980’s thanks to FBI agent, Keith Bell, whose first hadn’t account is included in this special event film for Discovery Channel.
